The Italian Ministry of Justice intends to check the Milanese judges, who replaced the decision on imprisonment for keeping under house arrest in relation to the son of the Krasnoyarsk governor Alexander Uss Artem. Such an order, according to local media, was given by the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio.
Corriere della Sera, in particular, writes that the check is a sign of a clash between the government and the judicial branch of power – the Milan Court of Appeal.
As Prime Minister George Meloni said, this is not the fault of the government, but “another state body.”
Recall, Artem Uss was detained on October 17, 2022 at Milan Malpensa Airport at the request of the US authorities, when he was about to fly to Turkey. The US Attorney’s Office charged him with violating Western sanctions against the Russian Federation and Venezuela, illegal transactions and money laundering.
Italian judges allowed the extradition of Artem Uss to the United States, but at the same time eased restrictions on him. At the end of March, Uss managed to escape and return to Russia.
