Foreign Ministers of Russia, China, Iran and Pakistan hold a closed meeting in Samarkand

The Foreign Ministers of Russia, China, Iran and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan are meeting in Samarkand as part of the Ministerial Conference of Afghanistan’s neighbors. It is reported by TASS.

Before the start of the meeting, Sergey Lavrov, Qin Gang, Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Rabbani Khar took pictures together, after which the meeting continued in a closed format.

The ministers of foreign affairs of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also participate in the conference. The participants will discuss further steps to promote the Afghan political settlement, stabilize the humanitarian and socio-economic situation in this country, as well as the development of regional economic integration and the implementation of transport and energy projects with the participation of Kabul.

Lavrov arrived in Samarkand on Wednesday. In addition to the conference on Afghanistan on Friday, the minister will take part in a meeting of foreign ministers of the CIS countries and a ministerial meeting in the format of the Russian Federation – Central Asia.
