Almost a quarter of Russians (24%) said they would like to fly to Mars as space tourists. This is evidenced by the results of the VTsIOM poll. In second place in popularity is the Moon (10%).
In total, according to the study, more than 70% of the Russians surveyed agree to go to some other planet in the solar system.
9% would fly to Venus, 6% of respondents chose Jupiter, 5% – Saturn.
45% of respondents believe that a manned spacecraft flight to Mars is possible in the next 50 years. In 2014, there were only 16% of them.
In addition, the proportion of those who believe in the possibility of the imminent appearance of a habitable base on the Moon has also increased significantly (37% versus 13% in 2014), and those who consider a war in outer space possible (35 versus 7%).
At the same time, 10% of citizens believe that in the next 50 years, humanity will destroy a giant meteorite. 7% of respondents did not rule out that humanity will leave the Earth and move to another planet, 5% consider it possible that the Sun will go out and the Earth will become uninhabitable. 3% of survey participants believe that aliens will take over the planet.
