Hungary’s extension of the agreement on additional gas supplies from Russia is its decision, but Brussels has already learned the lesson about the dangers of dependence on one energy supplier, EU foreign policy spokesman Peter Stano said.
Thus, he commented on the visit of Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto to Moscow to extend the agreement on gas supplies, writes RBC.
Stano stressed that the EU would not comment on “the decision of one member state regarding its bilateral interaction”, but other countries of the union “have already learned the lessons of how dangerous it is for national security and interests to create a unilateral dependence on a single supplier who will not hesitate to abuses her.”
Recall that on Monday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto visited Moscow, where he met with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and head of the Rosatom corporation Alexei Likhachev. Following the meeting, Szijjarto said that Hungary had extended the agreement with Russia on additional gas supplies.
