The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a bill prohibiting the sale and use of fireworks, salutes and petards. It is reported by RBC.
290 deputies voted for the document. The ban does not apply to class F1 pyrotechnics with a low level of danger and an insignificant noise level (no more than 60 dB). Such fireworks can be used during public holidays and non-working days and sports competitions with the permission of the local council.
It will be possible to buy such fireworks only from 16 years old. The sale or transfer by any means of stage fireworks is permitted only to adults.
“The sound and light effects from the use of pyrotechnics are harmful to the psychological health of the population in wartime due to their similarity to the sounds of explosions, especially given the frequency of air raids in the country and the likelihood of rocket attacks on cities,” the explanatory note to the bill says.
The document also amends the law on the protection of animals from cruelty. When interacting with them, it is not allowed to use pyrotechnic products that can lead to injury or death.
The bill was developed by the deputies of the inter-factional association “Humannaya Strana”, as well as representatives of public organizations UAnimals and the Association of Animal Protection Organizations of Ukraine.
