As Doctor Peter reports, endocrinologist Elizaveta Kardapoltseva pointed out that modern evidence-based medicine does not recommend dividing foods into good and bad, useful and harmful.
According to the doctor, it is better to stick to the “plate method” in food:
50% vegetables,
25% protein
25% carbohydrates.
“I note that if carbohydrates, then it is slow: whole grain pasta and any cereals, except semolina – it is quite possible to quickly gain weight on it, if you eat often. If you eat according to this method regularly, this will be the best way to get natural trace elements, ”Elizaveta Kardapoltseva explained.
In addition, the doctor advises not to particularly trust the opinion that there are no useful substances in current products at all, so this deficiency must be compensated for with dietary supplements. According to the expert, even after freezing, most vegetables and fruits retain fiber, some vitamins and microelements.
“The use of dietary supplements is not recommended, since it is not known exactly how much of a particular substance is contained in the supplement and how the body will react to them – at least it can be an allergic reaction. The consequence of prolonged uncontrolled use of dietary supplements can be toxic hepatitis or acute liver failure, ”the doctor warned.
Kardapoltseva added that some diets not only do not actually help solve health or weight problems, but, on the contrary, create new ones. So, for example, a diet that can harm the cardiovascular system, and at the same time make you gain weight, is the Paleo diet, or paleo diet. It involves the use of a large amount of red meat, while legumes and dairy products, cereals and sugar are excluded from the diet.
“Excessive consumption of red meat leads to an increase in the level of trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) in the body, which affects the state of the vessels. Such a diet gradually leads to problems in the digestive tract and, oddly enough, to excess weight, ”the specialist explained.
