French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about the inadmissibility of deploying nuclear weapons outside the countries that possess them is a criticism of the United States. This opinion was expressed by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.

Commenting on Macron’s statement, he noted that such “violent criticism” from the President of France against the United States “has not been heard for a long time.”

Recall that Macron arrived on a visit to China in early April. On the eve of the trip, the French president spoke of the need for Beijing to put pressure on Moscow to “never use” chemical or nuclear weapons. France hoped that China would “reason” Russia. Macron repeated his idea already at a press conference with the Chinese leader in Beijing.

Xi Jinping spoke out against the use of nuclear, biological or chemical weapons. Macron himself stressed that nuclear weapons “under no circumstances” should be placed outside the nuclear powers.

Earlier, we add, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus. Paris called on Moscow to abandon its plans, and in Berlin, the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus was called “intimidation.”
