Activists of the environmental movement Letzte Generation (“Last Generation”), drawing attention to the problem of climate change, from April to May intend to hold protests in Berlin and “block” the streets of the city, writes the German publication Focus, citing a statement from the movement.
The statement said that the promotions will be held from Monday, April 24 and will last until May 5. Activists intend to “peacefully” block “as many roads as possible.” The publication notes that the situation “probably will not yet reach the complete blocking of traffic in the city.”
Letzte Generation is an international environmental movement whose members block roads, glue themselves to asphalt, pour paint on art objects. From January to October 2022, they made 370 promotions. In particular, in October they poured mashed potatoes over a painting from the Haystacks series by French artist Claude Monet at the Barberini Museum in Potsdam, Germany, and declared that the world was in a climate catastrophe due to fossil fuels.
