Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Education to consider the inclusion of works by Soviet writers in general educational programs in literature, which should “shape the historical consciousness of the younger generation.”
According to RBC, such an instruction is on the list of instructions following the meeting of the president with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, residents of besieged Leningrad and representatives of public patriotic associations, which took place in January this year. The head of the Ministry of Education, Sergei Kravtsov, must prepare a report on this topic by August 31, 2023.
In addition, Putin instructed the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Digital Transformation to prepare information materials for the formation of a “sustainable civic position among young people in relation to the crimes committed by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War, as well as by the Ukrainian regime that came to power in 2014,” the published list. A report on this topic by June 30, 2023 should be prepared by the heads of these ministries Olga Lyubimova and Maksut Shadayev.
