64 tons of drugs have been seized only in ports nationwide so far in 2021
Almost 550 kilos of cocaine were seized early this Friday in two police operations. One of the seizures occurred in Pascuales and the other in one of the Guayaquil ports.
In a sector of Pascuales, a truck was intercepted that was driven by two Ecuadorians, who did not justify the 200 brick-like packages found inside the vehicle and which were distributed in several jute bags. It was 204 kilos of cocaine, which represents about 2 million doses recalled from the market.

The Police indicated that this drug was transferred to a collection center in the north of Guayaquil, to be later taken by sea to the United States.
The 204 kilos are valued at at least $ 400,000 in the domestic market and about $ 8 million in the international market.
The detainees were identified as Washington Leonel MM and Jean Carlos VL, who do not have a criminal record.

The other seizure occurred in one of the southern ports of Guayaquil during control operations. The shipment was detected when agents profiled several containers in the pre-shipment area and discovered that one had inconsistencies in its security seals.
Major Paúl Carrasco, head of Ports and Airports, indicated that during the operation the dog named Laica gave the alkaloid alert in the container, where six jute bags were found inside which there were 300 packages of cocaine weighing 342 kilos.
The container was loaded with tires, left Peru and was destined for the port of Lázaro Cárdenas, in Mexico.
Major Carrasco revealed that 64 tons of drugs have been seized only in ports nationwide so far in 2021.
In general, the Police have seized 171 tons of drugs nationwide. Last year (from January to December) 120 tons were seized. (I)
