Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko said that the republic will not allow its jurisdiction to be used to circumvent sanctions against Russia. He recalled that to prevent this from April 1, a goods monitoring system was launched in the country.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera, he said that there is no customs control on the border between Kazakhstan and Russia, and there are 51 border crossings between the two countries. At the same time, Vasilenko pointed out, from the first day of the NMD, the authorities of Kazakhstan have been saying that although they do not impose sanctions against Russia, they will also not allow the use of the country’s territory to circumvent sanctions.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kazakhstan also receives goods from countries that have not imposed sanctions against the Russian Federation – China, India, Vietnam. However, since April, Kazakhstan has introduced an online system that will track all goods crossing the border of the republic. With the help of innovation, the country will demonstrate that the country complies with the restrictions imposed by Western countries against Russia, he explained.
Vasilenko stressed that “very clear guidelines” had been set for businesses regarding what could and could not be exported to Russia.
