German investigators found traces of explosives on the Andromeda pleasure yacht, which is believed to be associated with the Nord Stream explosions, writes The New York Times, citing three German officials.
According to the interlocutors of the publication, it was also established that two of the crew members of the yacht used fake Bulgarian passports.
According to the NYT, Andromeda was rented on September 5 in the German port of Rostock, and later moored in the harbor on the Danish island of Christianso. A local port worker told reporters that he tried to speak to the crew in German and English, but one of the crew members simply silently paid him for his services.
At the same time, the newspaper notes that the version that six members of the yacht’s crew, even if there were experienced divers among them, could install explosives on gas pipelines, raises doubts among local residents and experts, since the pipes are at a depth of about 80 m, and the bomb caused an explosion of 2.5 on the Richter scale.
In particular, naval officer and analyst at the Danish Institute Johannes Rieber called this version “James Bond theory” and noted that in order to predict how an explosion will work under sea pressure at such depths, “very specialized knowledge” is needed.
