The Pentagon is investigating the leak of documents with information about secret US and NATO plans to strengthen the Ukrainian armed forces in connection with the planned offensive, writes The New York Times (NYT), citing sources in the US administration.
As the newspaper notes, the documents this week appeared on Twitter and Telegram. Washington is working to remove them, but so far this has not been done.
The published data does not contain information on how, when and where Ukraine plans to launch an offensive, but contains information about what Kiev may need for this campaign, as of March 1, which may give indirect “hints” to the Russian side, the NYT notes. . In particular, information about some units of the Ukrainian army, including their training in NATO countries, the amount of equipment required for them, the timing of the supply of weapons, etc., has become publicly available.
Analysts interviewed by the newspaper questioned the authenticity of the documents. In their opinion, some data, for example, on the number of losses of the parties, could be changed for the purpose of disinformation.
