The Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense received a request from the Finnish Ministry of Defense for the purchase of the David’s Sling missile defense system, a joint US-Israeli development. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the department.
“It is expected that the Department of Defense will deliver the David Sling system overseas for the first time. After a competitive process that lasted several years, the Finnish Ministry of Defense chose the advanced Israeli system. The purchase request has been received by Defense Ministry Director General Eyal Zamir,” the statement said.
“According to the agreement, Israel will supply Finland with the David Sling missile defense system, including interceptors, launchers and radars, which will be connected to Finnish command and control systems,” the Israeli Defense Ministry said. The press service noted that “the deal is valued at 316 million euros”, and, “in connection with the joint development of the system with the United States, an export permit from the US government is required.”
