China cannot take part in the settlement of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev, since its mediation could lead to the loss of full sovereignty by Ukraine, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said on BloombergTV.
According to the diplomat, China’s proposals to resolve the conflict are “definitely not a peace plan,” since the state “cannot have full sovereignty while losing territory.”
In addition, Landsbergis suggested that China “wants Russia to join their version of the global order.”
Recall that in February, China presented its plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, consisting of 12 points. These included an immediate cessation of hostilities and the resumption of negotiations between the parties.
The Kremlin admitted that the document could be taken as a basis for developing a plan for a peaceful solution to the conflict. In turn, the Ukrainian authorities criticized the Chinese initiative, noting that the document lacks a clause on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the country. The same position was taken by Germany, the USA and other Western countries.
