Marina Shishkina, the former leader of the regional branch of the A Just Russia – For Truth party, is not going to give up her deputy mandate in the St. Petersburg parliament. She told the Rosbalt correspondent about this after the head of the party, Sergei Mironov, suggested that she surrender her mandate.
“In 2016, I walked on the lists of the party and was not a member, and I had the highest result in the party. So I do not accept the offer of Sergei Mikhailovich, – said Shishkina. – In party elections, as in marriage, there is a contribution from both sides. “Giving up the mandate” is the same as getting rid of everything acquired in a joint marriage. The party helps to go without collecting signatures, well, then a lot depends on the candidate himself – his resource, charisma, work, work in the district.
The deputy recalled that people at polling stations vote not just for the party, but also for its specific candidate, since “there are no nouns”.
Marina Shishkina also noted that she and her colleagues, who are leaving with her, paid the debt to the party. Andrey Aleskerov, Alexander Novikov and Lyubov Mendeleeva also left the party the day before.
“For five years I led the St. Petersburg branch of the party,” the former deputy speaker of parliament emphasized. – During this time it was recognized as the best in the country: we managed to increase the number of municipal deputies-Fair Russians, increase the faction in parliament, establish contact with all healthy political forces in St. Petersburg, and attract young people. The city began to respect us. This is the result of the work of our young and efficient team.”
Recall, on April 5, it became known that Marina Shishkina was leaving the post of vice-speaker of the Legislative Assembly and leaving the Just Russia party. She stated that she would take up a new political project, close to her “in spirit and conscience.” Nadezhda Tikhonova became the head of the regional branch of the Social Revolutionaries in St. Petersburg. The media reported that the split between the St. Petersburg and Moscow branches of the party occurred due to the fact that party leader Sergei Mironov is leaning towards a political alliance with the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.
