Deputies of the faction “Fair Russia – Patriots – For Truth” in the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg announced their withdrawal from the party. According to TASS, this is stated in a statement on behalf of the faction, which was announced by its leader Marina Shishkina.
“I want to make a statement on behalf of the faction that we have decided to leave the ranks of the Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth party. This decision was not born today, we deliberated for a long time and adopted it only when it became collegial, ”said Shishkina.
“Each of us, it seems to us, joined another party – the socialist, social-democratic, on the shield of which the idea of social justice and the big problems of small people were the main ones. <…> Unfortunately, recently the current agenda of the party has changed in a direction that does not correspond to our understanding of the ideas of justice, ”explained Shishkina.
She expressed gratitude to party chairman Sergei Mironov for many years of work and cooperation, but noted that now the deputies of the faction “feel the need to choose a different political path.” She added that she personally has recently “been missing humanity” in the party rhetoric and agenda.
In addition to Shishkina, the faction includes Alexander Novikov, Lyubov Mendeleeva, Andrey Aleskerov and Mikhail Amosov, who is not a member of the NWRP. Amosov noted that he respects the decision of his colleagues.
In turn, according to Zaks.ru, Nadezhda Tikhonova, head of the St. Petersburg branch of Just Russia – For Truth, admitted that Shishkina’s statement came as a surprise to her. “I am surprised, we were absolutely sure that we were working with Marina Anatolyevna. She always confirmed that she was working with the faction, working with the party. So I’m as surprised as everyone else. This is absolute news for me,” Tikhonova said.
Earlier, at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly, Shishkina announced that she was leaving the post of vice-speaker of the St. Petersburg parliament and the Just Russia – For Truth faction. Nadezhda Tikhonova, a former deputy of the Legislative Assembly and niece of party leader Sergei Mironov, is recommended to replace Shishkina.
