Demand for early booking of tours from St. Petersburg has fallen, and the cost of travel has increased by 20-40% compared to the previous year. This was reported to “Business Petersburg” representatives of the tourism sector.
According to the Russian Express company, prices for tours have increased by 20-40% on average. This year there has been a drop in interest in early booking by 20-30%, and the average cost of the tour is 50-70 thousand rubles per person.
Another trend in 2023 is the changing tastes of tourists regarding vacation destinations. Now, apart from Turkey, the UAE, Thailand, Maldives, Egypt and Sri Lanka are the most popular. Those who prefer excursions are interested in tours to Uzbekistan, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Abkhazia and the resorts of the Krasnodar Territory are also in great demand from June to September. It is worth noting the increased interest in the UAE and the Maldives, where the summer season is considered low, and hotels offer attractive discounts.
The number of independent travelers who prefer to plan their own itinerary and pay for accommodation directly has decreased. So, according to the statistics of air orders from OneTwoTrip, at the moment, 9.5% of bookings for the summer of 2023 are made from St. Petersburg, which is 28.6% less than in January-March of the previous year. Sochi turned out to be the most popular destination among residents of the northern capital, accounting for 25.5% of all summer bookings. Makhachkala took second place with a share of 8.4% of Petersburgers, and Kaliningrad took third place with a share of 8.3%.
