This is the first activity for the 487 years of the founding of the capital.
This Sunday, November 21, from 09:00 to 12:30, the traditional Quiteñidad Minga will take place, in all the neighborhoods of the capital. The Municipality of Quito invited all citizens to collaborate with the cleaning of their neighborhoods as the beginning of the parties for the 487 years of its foundation.
Neighbors will be able to beautify their blocks with the cleaning windows, streets and sidewalks, painting walls and flagging of their balconies.
According to information from the Secretariat for Territorial Coordination and Citizen Participation, this traditional minga has been held for more than 40 years in Quito. On this occasion, the about 22,000 municipal officials will join this initiative to fix the city for its parties.
The Fire Department Band, the Municipal Band and the Metro Band will brighten up this day with their artistic performances. What’s more, at 10:00 it is planned to sing the hymn to Quito, precisely as an activity prior to flagging.
The private company will also join this initiative. The Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ) reported that it will be the general coordinator of the minga. Several companies will contribute with painting, flags, ornamental plants, reforestation crews, mural painting and cleaning of certain assigned sections.
Representatives of the capital taxi and several educational institutions confirmed their presence in this minga. Each Quito citizen will be able to provide support with brooms, spatulas, shovels and covers to collect garbage and grass from the sidewalks.
Also, zonal administrations will be located in 20 strategic points to create outposts in neighborhoods and collaborate with neighbors.

Mayor Santiago Guarderas confirmed his presence in the capital’s minga, he is expected to collaborate in the United Nations avenue, in the north center of the capital.
