Opponents of President Lasso say that as far as his government is concerned, “everything is completed” or “will be completed.” Others might think so, because of the risk of his removal or the possibility of Lasso deciding to die on the cross.

– No one dies on the eve.

Cities, rural areas and roads are being destroyed due to natural disasters. The real power is the mafias that have been ruling the area for the last decade, violence is their expression. The case of the administrative director of the Teodoro Maldonado IESS hospital, an excellent professional who confronted them, is one of those, they shot her in the face. There is organized crime and widespread violence.

In a country where its possessions presuppose patriotic action, to test the functionality, opportunity and quality of management, there would be priorities. Not in Ecuador. It is politically privileged.

The point. Lasso would be remiss if, in order to defend himself, he did not stick to the dates and procedures of his government and show the power of the mafia that has controlled the marketing and transportation of Ecuadorian oil for the last decade, from which what he is accused of was derived.

Let’s quote history. In 1956, Ponce Enríquez and Raúl Clemente Huerta were candidates, the latter for the Democratic Front. President Velasco Ibarra openly campaigned for Ponce. His famous sentence was “Either I will break the Front or the Front will break me”. It was alleged that Ponce Enríquez, who ruled until 1960, was declared the victor by fraud, and that Velasco was his successor in the fourth Velasquismo. Then came Carlos Julio Arosemena Monroy and the fascist dictatorship of 1963-1966.

Lasso would be remiss if he did not demonstrate the power of the Mafia at work… by commercializing and transporting oil…

With Clemente Yerovi, in 1966, the Constituent Assembly was convened, which met on November 16, 1966. On the night of the 15th, with one vote difference, in front of Camilo Ponce, the provisional president of the Republic was to be Raúl Clemente. Ponce ceded the candidacy to Otto Arosemena, who became president on November 16.

When the military dictatorship prevented Assad Bucaram from being a candidate, the CFP proposed the candidacy of Jaime Roldós Aguilera. Bucaram instructed the campaign “Roldós to the presidency, Bucaram to power”, even with his face in the advertisements in the press. Relations were strained and on Thursday, July 13, a few days before Election Day, July 16, 1978, Jaime did not attend the CFP meeting. For the second round, the obstacles have multiplied, so that this does not happen. Until April 29, 1979. The inauguration took place on August 10, 1979. The House of Representatives – in other constitutions the Congress or the National Assembly – was presided over by Assad Bucaram, in opposition to the Government.

After the death of Jaime and Martha, on May 24, 1981, Bucaram proposed the continuation of the relationship that led to the pairing of Roldós and Hurtado. During the minute of silence at the plenary session of the legislative parliament, on June 2, 1981, Bucaram did not stand up.

In October 1981, before President Hurtado traveled abroad, it became known that the terms of the relationship with Bucaram would be implemented. November 5th would have been Jaime’s 41st birthday. That day, Bucaram died suddenly.
