Czech Defense Minister Yana Chernokhova expressed the opinion that it does not matter who will mediate in peace talks in Ukraine – the West or countries close to Russia – as long as their result is important. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Czech television.
“It doesn’t matter if the West or states that may be close to Russia become an intermediary,” Chernokhova said. “It is important that a country be found that enjoys sufficient respect from Russia. The whole world must do everything so that these horrors end as soon as possible. If there is someone capable of this, he will receive my applause. I don’t care if it’s China.”
The minister expressed concern that the military conflict could drag on, although, according to her, the West wants a speedy cessation of hostilities.
Chernokhova stressed that her country is not considering the possibility of placing nuclear weapons on its territory. She categorically rejected this idea, referring to the corresponding question of the moderator. “There is nothing like that on the table,” the head of the Ministry of Defense pointed out.
