Recently, there has been a number of evidence of remarkable intelligence in bumblebees. According to Gismeteo, experts have found that these insects are capable of compromise, are aware of the shape and size of their bodies, and enjoy playing activities.

In addition, they were shown to be fast learners and to spread new models and behaviors through social learning (which can be called the beginnings of culture in animals). In addition, bumblebees often observe which way their relatives use to solve a problem, and then continue to use it even if there is an alternative.

In a new study, insects were given a puzzle with two solutions: open a box of syrup by pulling the red tab clockwise or the blue tab counterclockwise. The demonstrator bumblebees were shown one way to solve the puzzle.

The insects that first saw the solution to the problem from the “red” demonstrator subsequently used this method of opening the box, even after seeing an alternative. Moreover, in the control group, where there was no demonstrator, bumblebees practically did not cope with the task.
