A group of US Secret Service agents surveyed the New York courthouse where the trial of former President Donald Trump will be held and made a safe route for the former head of state and the press. It is reported by RBC with reference to the Whe Washington Post.

Trump plans to fly to New York on Monday and stay overnight before appearing in a Manhattan courthouse on yet-to-be-determined criminal charges, the newspaper notes. The first-ever indictment against the former president, who also hopes to be re-elected in 2024, “creates extraordinary security problems at the courthouse complex,” writes WP.

One source told the newspaper that dozens of US Secret Service agents had already searched the building to rule out any security issues. According to him, they also made a safe route for Trump both inside the building and at the entrance to it. “Court security officers will direct the former president’s movements inside the building, escorted by Trump security, and NYPD officers will guard the outer streets surrounding the courthouse and along the route of Trump’s motorcade through the city,” the source said.

Another interlocutor of the newspaper said that at the time of the process, the streets around the court building will be blocked, and it will also be impossible to use nearby parking lots. All court security personnel who had vacations or days off were asked to report for duty, the source added.

Donald Trump has become the first ex-President of the United States to be officially prosecuted. On March 31, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office contacted an attorney about charges against him under the Supreme Court indictment. The AP reported that the former president would face at least one criminal charge. According to the agency, it may be related to the falsification of business documents.

Trump called what is happening “political persecution and interference in elections at the highest level in history” by the Democrats, he denies guilt.

CNN and NYT reported that the former head of state is suspected of deliberately forging financial records in connection with payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels (her real name is Stephanie Clifford). Back in 2018, the ex-president’s former lawyer Michael Cohen admitted that he paid Daniels $130,000 in 2016 to keep quiet about her affair with Trump in 2006 (the ex-president denied this relationship). Payment according to the documents was carried out as payment for legal services. CNN also reported that Trump was going to be charged with more than 30 counts of business fraud.
