Three-time Olympic champion in figure skating and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina said that permission to sell beer at stadiums is necessary. because without it, the people are not able to perceive the sport. It is reported by RBC with reference to Match TV.
“I don’t drink beer. At sports facilities, I’m more interested without beer. But since people cannot perceive sport differently, what can you do? You know, the dog is also given a sugar cube as a reward, ”said Rodnina.
Selling beer at sports facilities and events was banned in Russia on January 1, 2005. The year before, beer advertising had been restricted in stadiums and on television.
In December 2019, the draft law on lifting the ban on the sale of beer during official football matches passed the first reading in the State Duma. According to the document, it will be possible to drink beer only in specially organized places, it is still forbidden to be in the stands with it. The amendments have not yet been considered in the second reading.
Football club leaders have repeatedly spoken about the need to re-allow the sale of beer in stadiums. President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov supported the return of beer to Russian stadiums.
