They identify 49 of 62 bodies of inmates murdered in the Litoral Penitentiary

The process of identifying the corpses of 62 inmates murdered in the massacre at the Litoral Penitentiary, which occurred between last Friday and Saturday, continues at the Police Forensic and Criminal Sciences Laboratory, in the west of Guayaquil.

According to the most recent police report, a total of 49 bodies have already been fully identified and 13 bodies are still pending that process, detailed Colonel Marco Ortiz, director of Technical Scientific Investigation of the National Police.

For now, the experts continue in the anthropological analyzes and the results are awaited to possibly continue to a next phase related to genetic studies.

With this group of bodies to be identified, the taking of fingerprints and recognition through corporal or physiognomic characteristics has been complicated.

The genetic studies that involve the taking of profiles of the inmate and his relatives would take approximately a month.

This morning, a group of relatives arrived at the morgue to complete various procedures in the process of recognition and removal of the corpses of inmates.
