The floating restaurant “Silver Whale” on the Neva banked and was partially flooded. This is reported by the publication 78.ru.
As clarified in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for St. Petersburg, the restaurant sinks every spring due to the mobility of ice.
“It has not been used for a long time, no one needs it. Every spring, it is flooded, because the ice is mobile, the water level is changing, and that’s it heels, ”the department explained.
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working on the spot, the North-Western Transport Prosecutor’s Office organized an inspection.
The area of the “Silver Whale” is 2800 square meters. m, it has three decks with a restaurant, a banquet hall and a karaoke bar. The building was designed in Moscow in 2001, but for the entire time of its existence the restaurant has not started work. The installation on the Moscow River was not agreed at the time, and the Farsey owner company transported it to St. Petersburg, where it was completed at the Severnaya Verf plant, and then moored in different parts of the city.
In 2018, the restaurant was moored at the embankment along Obukhovskaya Oborony Avenue, and in 2021 it lost its lease. In September last year, the Silver Whale was put up for sale at Avito for 35 million rubles.
