China and Honduras established diplomatic relations. It is reported by RBC.
“On March 26, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang held talks in Beijing with Foreign Minister of Honduras Eduardo Enrique Reina and signed the Joint Communique on Establishing Diplomatic Relations,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The countries will develop friendly relations “based on the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, peaceful coexistence,” the Foreign Ministry noted.
Beijing recalled that Honduras recognized the “one China policy” (the position that there is only one Chinese government) and that Taiwan belongs to China.
It was previously reported that Honduras and Taiwan, which Beijing considers its breakaway province, have severed diplomatic relations with each other.
