Resuscitator-anaesthesiologist Maria Yudina said that the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov had already survived the most difficult stage of treatment. She reported this to the Msk1 portal.
According to her, the skater is already breathing on his own, and this is a “huge plus”.
If the athlete had sepsis, then, according to the expert, he probably also had septic shock. And it is accompanied by a persistent decrease in blood pressure.
Roman also had multiple organ failure, which could lead to sepsis, Yudina noted, adding that today neither sepsis nor “multiorgan” is a sentence.
Now Kostomarov’s condition is “no worse and no better.” According to the doctor, asthenic syndrome will persist for some time, which, as a rule, is manifested by fatigue, a decrease in mental and physical performance, sleep disturbances, increased irritability or lethargy. But now the most important thing is to survive, the doctor emphasized.
Commenting on media reports that Kostomarov had lost 25 kg, she noted that this was most likely due to the fact that he had decreased muscle mass, which he had quite a lot. To maintain voluminous muscle mass, you need to exercise accordingly, she explained.
Recall that Kostomarov has been in the hospital for more than two months, he was connected to a ventilator. Earlier, the media wrote that part of his leg and several fingers on his hands were amputated. On the eve it became known that Kostomarov removed all the fingers on his left hand.
