In the Oryol region, a heavy truck that drove into the oncoming lane collided with a foreign car on the M-2 “Crimea” highway. According to RIA Novosti with reference to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region, three adults died as a result, and a child was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The accident occurred on Friday in the Mtsensk district of the Oryol region. According to preliminary information, the driver of the heavy truck was moving along the highway from Orel to Moscow. At the 305th kilometer, he drove into the oncoming lane, where he made a head-on collision with a foreign car.
As a result of an accident, the driver of the car died while being transported to a medical facility, his passengers, a man and a woman, died on the spot before the ambulance arrived. A 13-year-old child who was in the car was hospitalized with serious injuries.
“A criminal case has been initiated under Part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in relation to the driver of a heavy truck born in 1983, suspected of committing an accident that killed three people and injured a child, ”the report says.
Currently, the driver has been detained, the issue of choosing a measure of restraint for him is being decided, the department added.
