The anthrax-infected meat of a slaughtered bull was found in Chuvashia. The meat was seized, quarantine was organized in the places of its storage, according to the regional SU of the RF IC.
It was established that the focus of anthrax infection in Chuvashia arose due to the fact that a resident of the village of Staroe Aktashevo, Tsivilsky district, slaughtered a bull-calf infected with the infection on the meat of his own farm in his personal subsidiary plot. As a result, the man’s neighbor who took part in the slaughter of the bull, his wife, and another villager were infected with anthrax. A criminal case was initiated under article 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Violation of veterinary rules”.
Investigators found that the meat of a slaughtered sick animal was sold to two residents of the republic for personal consumption, and they managed to establish its whereabouts.
Currently, all detected meat has been seized by employees of Rospotrebnadzor in Chuvashia for research and disposal. In the areas where it was stored and found, quarantine and preventive measures were organized.
