Criminalistics staff went to the site to collect data.
An inmate was found dead inside his cell at the Guayas Social Rehabilitation Center No. 4, located on the road to Daule, north of Guayaquil, on the afternoon of this Wednesday, 17.
The National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders (SNAI) indicated that the inmate, identified as Gabriel J., was incarcerated in the priority care stage of that penitentiary.
The individual was in prison in Pavilion A for his alleged involvement in the murder of the 34-year-old Colombian citizen Janeth Henao, a fact recorded on October 16 at the Álamos Norte citadel, in Guayaquil.
That day, the woman was found dead inside the citizen’s home. Several stab wounds were evidenced on his body.
The subject, who worked as a lawyer, was arrested in Quito on October 20. He had a criminal record.
Criminalistics personnel went to the Guayaquil penitentiary to collect data and investigate the event, which was alerted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday 17.
SNAI indicated that it activated the protocols in coordination with the respective entities. The prison authorities are investigating the fact. (I)
