The European Union confirmed the promise to provide Ukraine with a million shells

The EU summit confirmed the promise to provide Ukraine with 1 million shells, as well as ground-to-ground missiles, if requested. According to TASS, this is stated in the statement of the heads of state and government of the community, who gathered in Brussels.

“The European Council welcomes the agreement in the Council of the EU on the urgent allocation of ground-to-ground ammunition and artillery shells to Ukraine, as well as, if it asks for them, missiles. They will be acquired, including through joint orders, by mobilizing appropriate funding from the European Peace Fund in order to jointly supply 1 million shells over the next 12 months, ”the document says.

The type of missiles is not specified.

It is also reported that the EU summit spoke in favor of new sanctions against the Russian Federation and the intensification of the information war, and also called for tougher compliance with old sanctions and the ceiling on oil prices.

“The EU remains committed to maintaining and increasing collective pressure on Russia, including through new restrictive measures, as well as continuing to work on an oil price ceiling together with partners,” the statement said. — The European Council emphasizes the importance and urgency of strengthening the work on the effective application of sanctions already adopted at the European and national levels. The EU will also intensify its work with partners to counter false Russian narratives.”

The summit did not adopt any specific sanctions decisions.
