The fighting in Ukraine is being conducted “to the point of attrition,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian.

According to him, the key role in this situation is played by the industrial potential to support the supply of weapons. Stoltenberg noted that Ukraine currently consumes 4-7 thousand shells per day, which exceeds the amount of ammunition produced. New contracts for the production of shells should correct this situation, the Secretary General emphasized.

Stoltenberg also noted that since the end of the conflict is not expected, Russia is allegedly turning to other countries, such as Iran and North Korea, for military assistance. According to him, the West should make efforts to ensure that Beijing does not provide such assistance to Moscow.

As noted, all three of these countries denied the supply of weapons to Russia.

Recall that earlier the EU decided to supply Ukraine with 1 million shells worth 1 billion euros within 12 months. The Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, called the decision historic.
