The arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin abroad by the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is an unrealistic scenario, but if such a thing happened, it would be tantamount to a declaration of war on Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said in an interview with journalists, excerpts from which were published in his Telegram -channel.
According to Medvedev, in this case, “all our means, missiles and others, will fly to the Bundestag, to the chancellor’s office, and so on.”
At the same time, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council referred to the words of the head of the Ministry of Justice of Germany, Mark Bushman, who announced his readiness to comply with the ICC’s demand and arrest Putin if “his foot sets foot on German territory.” “Does he understand that this is a casus belli, that this is a declaration of war? Or did he study poorly? Medvedev asked.
In addition, the deputy chairman of the Security Council called the ICC “a legal nonentity” and noted that the court’s decision “creates a colossal negative potential” against the backdrop of poor relations between the Russian authorities and the West.
We will remind, earlier Medvedev threatened with a missile attack on the ICC building in The Hague.
