Investigators opened a criminal case on the fact of infection of citizens with anthrax in Chuvashia. According to the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the case was opened under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
According to the investigation, a resident of one of the villages in Chuvashia, on his private farm, slaughtered one head of cattle belonging to him – “a bull-calf infected with anthrax” – for meat.
It is noted that the suspect did not carry out veterinary measures that ensure the prevention of animal diseases. Moreover, since 2022 he has not vaccinated animals against anthrax. As a result, a neighbor of the suspect, who participated in the slaughter of a bull, his wife, as well as another local resident, were infected.
Earlier it was reported that two residents of the Tsivilsky district of Chuvashia had anthrax. They were hospitalized, there is no threat to their lives. Rosselkhoznadzor specialists believe that illegal home slaughter of an illegally purchased animal became a possible cause of the disease. Infection of people occurred through cuts on the hands during the processing of the carcass, according to the service. The resulting meat and skin were sold to unknown people.
Earlier, the department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow region reported a case of suspicion of anthrax in a citizen who arrived in the region from Chuvashia. The patient was hospitalized in one of the medical institutions of the Moscow region.
