Five issues concern unions, legislators and the Government in an urgent project of Development and Fiscal Sustainability

The deadline for the approval of the Executive’s project expires on November 27.

The Economic Development Commission, this November 17, began the process of construction of the report for the second and final debate of the urgent project of Development and Fiscal Sustainability that basically implements new tax charges for natural and legal persons, as well as special contributions on assets .

The technical team of the Commission detected five central issues on which the debate in the commission will focus and on which at least 19 written observations have been submitted by unions, social organizations, public institutions and legislators.

After the installation of the session, the president of the Commission, Daniel Noboa (EU), ordered the reading of the issues that most concern in the project, and these refer to the following:

  • Income tax, modifications, the calculation of deductions or elimination of these.
  • The ICE calculation and VAT exemptions.
  • Special regime for the repatriation of capital.
  • Determine modifications to the inheritance tax
  • The calculation of income tax with respect to transactions and sale of real estate.

The session of the Commission was suspended at 4:12 p.m. and it will be reinstated at night once the plenary session concludes, where the report presented by the Sovereignty and Integral Security Commission on the investigation carried out to the action of public officials from the different functions of the State to prevent and resolve the prison crisis and the alarming situation of citizen insecurity that the country is experiencing.

The deadline for the National Assembly to approve the project in the second debate expires in ten days. (I)
