The information that Hungary vetoed a joint statement by the EU countries on the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for Russian President Vladimir Putin is not true, said Mate Patsolai, spokesman for the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.

According to TASS, Patsolai explained that “the truth is that Hungary has stated the following position to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell: Hungary takes note of the ICC decision and does not wish to comment on it in any way.”

At the same time, the Hungarian representatives stressed that if the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy or any EU country wants to make a statement, Hungary “won’t mind.”

Recall that earlier Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that Hungary blocked the publication of a joint statement by the EU countries regarding the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for Putin and the Commissioner for Children’s Rights under Russian President Maria Lvova-Belova.
