In the St. Petersburg art space mArs (Marsovo Pole, 3) from Monday, March 20, a personal exposition of the St. Petersburg artist Elena Freydis “The Sea” is available for visiting. The exhibition, organized as part of the New Wanderers project, will last for two weeks.

The conceptual exhibition of Elena Freydis is a bright and sensual ode to the sea, nature, light and air of the Crimean peninsula, conveyed by the artist in more than thirty airy watercolors and acrylic canvases. Freydis creates a holistic image, completely immersing the viewer in her impressions of what he saw.

“As every time from a trip to the peninsula, you bring a lot of memories of this beautiful and mysterious land. Images of the south coast are begging to be shared. It is possible to convey them, as it seems to me, in some special pictorial way. It is not an easy task to tell with the help of paints about the air, in which the smells of ancient juniper forests are dissolved, about the mountains approaching the sea so close that the sense of the horizon is lost, about the road leading either to Sevastopol, then to Yalta, then straight into the clouds, and about a huge warm golden sea, shimmering nearby,” notes Freydis.

According to the artist, more movement on the canvas and immediacy in the transfer of impressions – this is the language she chose for her paintings about the time spent between grass and waves.

“Climbing the rocky paths, I choose my favorite places for contemplation somewhere on the cliffs … it is interesting to display completely different states of the view from one point of view. Rain, thunderclouds crawling out of the valley, mists sliding over the ridge to the beach, the sun quickly hiding in the crevice rapidly change the landscape until it is completely transformed. As a result of these observations, modest watercolor sketches and pictorial reflections were born,” she adds.

Elena Freydis was born in Leningrad in 1968. In 1987 she graduated from the LCU named after. V.A. Serov with a degree in industrial graphics. After that, in 1988-1994. completed training in the specialty “costume modeling” (SPBGUSE), and in 2012 she graduated from St. Petersburg State University with a degree in “art history”. Elena Freydis is actively involved in exhibition activities in Russia and abroad. He is a member of the Creative Union of Artists (IFA).
