A delegation of representatives of Australian Aboriginal communities arrived at the Russian Consulate General in Sydney and met with Russian Consul General Igor Arzhaev to express understanding and support for the Russian people and government. It is reported by TASS.

As the elder of one of the communities, Bruce Schillingsworth, noted, “the first inhabitants of the Australian continent oppose the transfer of weapons and other support to Ukraine by the Australian government.” The members of the delegation also declared their support for the efforts of the Russian people in the struggle “for their lands and for the freedom of their brethren.”

“These ideas are very close to the indigenous people of Australia, from whom the land was taken away more than two hundred years ago. We are against our government spending money on weapons for Ukraine. As the traditional custodians of this land, we have not given permission to send weapons and money to a war that does not concern Australia,” said Schillingsworth, noting that the Russian people are “brothers and sisters to the Australian Aborigines.”

Also, the delegation members stressed that they are in solidarity with the people of Donbass, “who were denied the right to self-determination, denied the right to even speak their native language.” “These people are indigenous to the land they are fighting for today, they were genocide by the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev for eight years, but not a single word of condemnation was heard from the Australian government,” they noted.

After the meeting, the members of the delegation held a traditional welcoming ceremony at the walls of the Consulate General and read out a memorandum on the establishment of an Australian branch of the International Russophile Movement. “Russia has many friends all over the world, for historical, civilizational and cultural reasons, it inspires sincere sympathy, respect and even love far beyond its borders,” said representatives of the delegation, citing the fight against disinformation and overcoming hostility among the goals of the organization.
