In 1912, according to the design of the architect Alexei Zazersky, a six-story apartment building with an attic floor was built. The project was changed during the construction period – the façade ended up being more restrained, in the spirit of rational modernity.
“Among the creations of A.I. Zazersky, the house of Basevich occupies a modest place, significantly inferior to them in architectural design and architectural techniques. Actually, that is why it did not attract the attention of researchers when compiling lists of historical and cultural monuments and newly identified objects of cultural heritage in the 1970-1990s, ”KGIOP emphasized.
In 2009, Basevich’s house was declared emergency and resettled. Later, fires occurred in it more than once, in 2016 the building was transferred to the operational management of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy and the Boris Eifman Academic Ballet Theater.
“According to the results of the consideration, the commission did not reveal any features that could serve as grounds for including the Basevich house in the list of identified objects of cultural heritage. The corresponding draft resolution of the committee is currently undergoing the procedure of anti-corruption expertise. KGIOP has repeatedly stated that attempts to manipulate the status of the monument as part of information campaigns against the implementation of a particular project are unfair,” the KGIOP added.
