The International Criminal Court Chamber earlier today issued “arrest warrants” for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. This is stated in the release on the website of the court.

The Kremlin, commenting on the decision of the ICC, said that raising the question of the “arrest” of the President of the Russian Federation is unacceptable, RIA Novosti reports.

“We consider the very posing of the question outrageous and unacceptable,” Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

He recalled that Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of this court and, accordingly, any decisions of this kind are “insignificant” for Moscow from the point of view of law.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, also said that the decisions of the ICC for Russia do not matter, including from a legal point of view. She stressed that Russia does not cooperate with this body, and “possible” prescriptions “for arrest” will be “legally void” for the Russian side.

Maria Lvova-Belova also reacted to the decision of the ICC, noting that there were sanctions against her “of all countries”, and now there is an “arrest warrant”. According to her, she is ready to work further.

Meanwhile, the head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Andriy Yermak, said that today’s ICC decision is “just the beginning.”

Earlier, Western media wrote about the plans of the ICC to initiate cases against Russia.
