Taiwan recorded 15 aircraft and three ships of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) in the region adjacent to the island. According to TASS, this is stated in the message of the defense department of the island.
“Today, as of 06:00 (01:00 Moscow time), 15 aircraft and three PLA ships were found in the Taiwan area,” the report said.
According to the statement, five aircraft crossed the so-called median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered the island’s air defense identification zone to the southwest of it. Among them are a Y-8 radar reconnaissance aircraft, two J-16 fighter jets and two WZ-7 drones.
The PLA regularly sends its aircraft and ships to Taiwan after the visit to Taipei of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi on August 2-3, 2022. In China, such trips are considered provocations and interference in China’s internal affairs.
Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, but in Beijing it is considered one of the provinces of the PRC and urges foreign countries to adhere to the “one China” policy.
