An appeal was filed against the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg on the administrative arrest of the former mayor of the city, Yevgeny Roizman (recognized as a foreign agent in Russia – ed.). According to Interfax, this was announced by his lawyer Vladislav Idamzhapov.

“Yes, I filed a complaint. Most likely, the consideration of the complaint in court will take place after lunch,” Idamzhapov said.

On March 16, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found Roizman guilty under Part 1 of Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (propaganda or public demonstration of paraphernalia or symbols of extremist organizations, or other paraphernalia or symbols, the promotion or public display of which is prohibited by federal laws) and sentenced him to 14 days of arrest as a punishment.

The reason for drawing up the protocol was a repost on the VKontakte social network made in February 2022.

The ex-mayor himself stated that he considered the offense imputed to him ridiculous, since he had never used this social network.

Roizman’s wife, Yulia Kruteeva, explained to the e1.ru portal that Roizman does not have a page on this social network, and the repost was made in the Evgeny Roizman group, to which the former mayor has nothing to do.

On August 24, 2022, Roizman was detained in Yekaterinburg. Subsequently, he was charged under Part 1 of Art. 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions aimed at discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). The court chose him a measure of restraint in the form of a ban on certain actions. The ex-mayor, in particular, is forbidden to use means of communication and the Internet, with the exception of certain cases. Roizman himself does not admit his guilt in this case.

Last fall, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included him in the register of foreign agents.
