The Turkish authorities have decided to ban the refueling and maintenance of American-made aircraft from Russia and Belarus. According to the AirportHaber edition, such a ban affected the work of seven Russian, one Belarusian and one Iranian air carrier.

The refusal to refuel the aircraft in Istanbul was also reported by Kommersant sources. One of them said that they are now working on a solution to this problem.

Aeroflot clarified that the airline operates flights to Turkish cities in Turkey as usual.

The AirportHaber article said that refueling and other services are prohibited for private, cargo, commercial and charter aircraft that contain more than 25% of American components and fly to Russia or Belarus.

In January, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the US was trying to pressure Turkey to stop flights of US-made aircraft owned by Russian airlines to and from Turkey. According to media sources, US officials have warned of consequences if Turkish structures continue to provide services to Russian, as well as Belarusian, carriers.

Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul Andrei Buravov also said that the sanctions imposed on Russia and restrictions on the use of aircraft affect negotiations with Turkey on the development of air traffic between the countries.
