In St. Petersburg, over time, they plan to completely replace goods and materials from unfriendly countries with their own production or domestic products.

In an interview with TASS, Governor Alexander Beglov expressed confidence that changes in the economy, which for many years were considered desirable, are becoming mandatory. “Now, according to the head of state, this is a vital necessity. In our city there are enterprises, laboratories, research teams with the necessary competencies. It is important to support them,” Beglov said.

According to the governor, the industry support mechanisms introduced by the city are yielding results, helping to increase production volumes and master the production of new products. Beglov admitted that it is impossible to completely replace unfriendly imports with domestic goods in one year, but at the first stage it is necessary to support the functioning of technical systems created by foreign manufacturers, find alternative suppliers in friendly countries and build relationships with them in the near future.

“The next step is technical systems based on our own industrial base. This stage is more difficult and longer. It is necessary to transfer a wide range of industries to domestic rails. We are just starting to form 100% domestic technical systems. For example, in February, an engineering center was opened in Kronstadt for the oil and gas industry. They will conduct their own developments, design, design and manufacture products, the import of which into Russia is prohibited,” Beglov said.
