In 2023, 38% fewer roads will be repaired in the North-West of Russia than a year earlier. Funding has declined slightly.
This year, the bulk of the work will be carried out in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. According to Uprdor North-West, more than 170 km of roads are planned to be repaired and reconstructed in these regions.
The volume of financing for the repair and reconstruction of federal roads in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad, Pskov and Kaliningrad regions in 2023 will amount to 37.8 billion rubles against 38.7 billion last year, Kommersant writes.
This year, in accordance with the program of work for federal funds allocated through the Rosavtodor, it is planned to reconstruct 21.525 km of roads (18.757 km were reconstructed in 2022), repair 218.643 km and 800.690 linear meters of artificial structures on them (in 2022, 351.155 km and 134,000 linear meters).
According to the General Director of the Association of Builders and Suppliers of the Road Complex (ASDOR) Yuri Agafonov, we should expect another increase in construction estimates due to the continuing rise in prices for building materials. “For example, rebar has recently risen in price sharply. This is the beginning of another phase of price increase, and how the change in cost will affect the estimates is still difficult to predict. The Ministry of Economic Development compiles deflator indices that allow the estimated cost to be recalculated in real prices for the corresponding construction period, but inflation forecasts do not keep pace with rising prices. So even if the level of funding remains the same, the volume of work will decrease,” the head of ASDOR believes.
