As the interlocutor clarifies, Kostomarov is now on a ventilator and cannot breathe on his own. If the arm is amputated, there is a risk of cardiac arrest. Currently, the body itself is fighting sepsis, but it is too weakened for this.
Doctors also point to Kostomarov’s severe thinness, he cannot raise his arms and move himself. Every two hours he is changed position, and an anti-decubitus mattress is installed on his bed.
At the same time, there is a positive trend in the figure skater’s condition. If it persists, he can be removed from the ventilator.
