The Minister of Education, María Brown Pérez, mentioned that the return will begin on November 22 with students from technical high schools and from rural areas. In this group there are 402,309 students, between 15 and 17 years old.
The epidemiological situation and the state of the school infrastructure will be decisive in defining the obligation to return to face-to-face classes.
A second group will return on December 6: it corresponds to the rest of high school (urban) and higher basic education (eighth, ninth and tenth). Quito students must return on December 7th. With this, 1’872,111 students will be in classes.
The third group will be that of students from initial to basic education (from 5 years to 11 years), on January 17, 2022.
That State portfolio has indicated that the obligation is for the campus that has the permission to operate in person. The Ministry pointed out that private schools that want to expand their academic offerings, as a distance modality, can request authorizations.
The minister said that the Ministry will have two campuses in Quito and Guayaquil to serve students who cannot attend face-to-face classes. For that, the parents must request the transfer. (I)
