In the center of Chisinau today there were clashes between the police and the protesters. According to Interfax, this happened after the police lined up a cordon, not letting the demonstrators into the central square of the city.
The activists then tried to return to the buildings of the presidential administration and parliament. However, the security forces parked several buses, not allowing the demonstrators to pass, but suggesting that they go to the square in front of the National Opera and Ballet Theater to hold a rally there.
During the clashes, according to police, 54 people were detained. They planned to take part in the protest. According to the report, the detainees behaved suspiciously. The security forces found prohibited items, including knives.
According to the agency, the protesters also demanded that the authorities pay utility bills for three winter months. In addition, they put forward political demands – the resignation of the president and parliament, the holding of early elections.
