The manager confirmed that there was inflation in the payroll and that they initiated a reorganization of the municipal company

The current manager of the Metro de Quito Municipal Public Company, Efraín Bastidas confirmed in an interview with this newspaper that began a reorganization process. At least ten people have already been separated from the beginning of its management.

According to the transparency page of the Quito Metro, until October 10, 2021 the payroll was 131 workers. However, with a cut-off on the same date, in the part of remuneration by position there is a list of 129 employees in the company.

“The day I arrived at the Quito Metro company I found a payroll of 120 people, we are clear and that I will not deny, very possibly it was inflated because even in the board session in which I was, the councilor Bernardo Abad said, and these are public data, that the company it had gone from 60 to 120 people in just a few months ”, he pointed.

Bastidas was sworn into office on October 22, that is, up to then 11 people had already left.

However, he pointed out that this reorganization will be carried out in a technical, structured and transparent way. “That they are the people who should be according to the manual of charges, not according to cronyism “he added.

The Quito Metro the management model for its operation and maintenance has not yet been defined, With the change of management and after the dispute over the Mayor’s Office, this decision was delayed.

With the arrival of the new manager, citizens and municipal authorities hope that the most emblematic and expensive project in the city will find a way to start your business operations.

Efraín Bastidas is the ninth manager in the history of the Metro, the second presented by Mayor Santiago Guarderas, taking into account the appointment of Allan Peñafiel that he made in his period from July 19 to 30.

Not all will come out

The manager pointed out that there are charges that are needed, explained that making a large number of economic movements (being a work of $ 2,049 million) forces them to take care of every detail of payments that are making.

On the other hand, they also need personnel who verify the quality of the work they receive and supervise the condition of the trains. In addition, he pointed out the need for personnel in processes in the social, environmental and legal areas.

“I would not dare to tell you at this time if the payroll has to be 60, 70 or 80 people, what I do tell you is that we have already started to reduce that payroll from this moment, based on the charges that are detected they were temporary, they were unnecessary or they had a hiring that did not respond to the needs. So, what we are detecting, we are cleaning and little by little the subway payroll is being reduced ”, Bastidas emphasized. (I)
